A B O U T
I started my recruiting career 20 years ago in the San Francisco Bay area, working for a temporary staffing company located about a mile from Stanford University (Palo Alto). I learned first-hand about responding quickly to businesses and the value of providing the best fit as quickly as possible. I met with and toured many companies in the Bay area, learning about each individual work environment.
This was a time in my life that opened my eyes to a different world. You see, while Palo Alto was an extremely affluent community, the candidates who came in to our company were from East Palo Alto. They didn’t look like me. They didn’t talk like me. I heard stories and met some of the most unique and wonderfully diverse people ever. This changed my life.
I came back to my home in Portland, Oregon with the same staffing company and worked in this industry for next six years – eventually managing a branch in Beaverton with four direct reports.
Moving to a corporate position at U.S. Bank in 2004, I was the only recruiter for the Portland Metro area – with over 100 branches. I recruited every position until 2010, when I worked in the Small Business division – recruiting for positions across the nation.
After leaving U.S. Bank in 2012, I wrote a book called Secrets of a Corporate Recruiter, published on amazon.com. It was born out of my observations that many people who are looking for work do not see or understand a recruiter’s perspective. They don’t “turn the table” and think like a hiring manager. This book was a labor love to help my community learn how to stand out in a good way.
For the past 10 years, I have presented to several groups and organizations based on the knowledge presented in my book, including The Portland Urban League, Portland Community College and Columbia River Correctional, to name a few.
I then moved into healthcare recruiting – Kaiser, PeaceHealth and Familycare. I was the diversity recruiter at Kaiser for the new hospital (Westside). This gave me yet another opportunity to do what I love: work with a beautiful rainbow of people from all walks of life.
I have recruiting expertise in banking/finance, healthcare, government and manufacturing. With a diverse set of experience and knowledge, I can easily adapt to any circumstance and environment.
